DNA LitFest:
The Reading Reptile's Annual The annual literature festival is our biggest event of the year! Every year, we bring in a half dozen of the best authors and illustrators in the country for a two-day, literary love-in. Check our site year round for author updates and info.

Special Events:
Special Events and ticketed programs will be posted as they arise and always require reservations. They sometimes require a fee as well. A special family event may feature the talents of a professional story teller, musician or theatre company.

Writing Contest!
The Reading Reptile co-sponsors the Annual Young Writers Contest in association with the Johnson County Public Library. The contest is open to children between the ages of 5 and 12 who live within 50 miles of Kansas City. A reception for all participants celebrates their efforts. For rules and important dates, or to obtain entry forms go to the Writing Contest page.

Author Events:
Authors and illustrators from all over the country visit the Reading Reptile between the months of September and May. These engagements are usually free, and hosted in the store, but are occasionally held off-site, to accommodate larger crowds or to stage conspiratorial performances with a guest author.

Ongoing Events:
The Reptile offers a variety of free, in-store events throughout the year, including Story Hours for both preschool age (3-5 year-old) and school age (5-8 year-old) children. We have two ongoing Book Clubs -- one for emerging readers (6 - 8-year-olds) and one for established readers (9 - 12-year-olds).
